A red carpet event beckons several young filmmakers, writers and performers as they premiere a specially created film that aims to tackle homelessness.

Jointly funded by the Shropshire and Staffordshire Homelessness Prevention Partnership and Tamworth Borough Council the project brought together young volunteers to create a film to take into the borough’s schools to spread the homelessness prevention message.

The young people incolved with worked alongside a professional film crew, and had a hands on role in all aspects, inlcuding storyboarding, script development, performing through to direction and even cutting the film together in post production.

The completed 10-minute film will now be showcased at a red carpet premiere at on Wednesday July 9 at Tamworth Assembly Rooms.

The young people involved in the film are:

• Sarah Freegard-Foster – currently completing her course in drama at Stafford College.

• Gemma Owen – a professional photographer who took most of the still images for the film.

• Jamie Causer – an actor who has appeared in the BBC series Doctors and recently starred in an advert for Wall’s sausages.

• Rachel Atkins – she has had first-hand experience of homelessness, but now has her own home and a full-time job. She got involved in the project as she feels it is important for children to know that they can get help, no matter what the situation.

• James Wood – James is in his final year at Tamworth Sixth Form Centre and hopes to do an apprenticeship in digital and creative media after his A Levels.

• Ella Jarvis – currently completing her final year at school. She has a conditional offer to East 15 drama school, which she is hoping to attend in September.

• Lewis Baker – attends South Staffordshire College in Lichfield, where he is undertaking a film course.

More details to follow – when we hopefully will have some photos of the glamourous Oscars Style premiere to share with you.
