It’s late at night. You have writer’s block. You can’t think what step to add to your latest piece of dance. You stare at a blank canvas and wonder where to begin? You need that creative fix. So what do you do or where do you go to get that spark of inspiration and rid yourself of idea amnesia.
[h3]1 – The Loo![/h3]
Yep, that’s right. many a great album has been conceived whilst sat on the ‘throne’. Many people also have their favourite and most inspirational pieces of wall art, or books in there too – and looking at them often gives the brain the surge of creative electricity and the jump start it needs
[h3]2 – Sleep On It!.[/h3]
When its just not happening, and your mojo is frazzled, then get to bed, or take a nap. Many artists, writers and musicians have stated that their best ideas have come either from dreams or from a waking Eureka moment.
[h3]3 – Do Something Mindless![/h3]
There comes a point when you just have to get away from it all. Turn off the tap, and go do something totally unrelated to your topic. Step away, and go out with your friends, do some gardening, try your hand and go karting or bunjee jumping – heaven forbid get to the gym or do some sport – (Yes I said the ‘S’ word). Your brain maybe just needs to take a breather.
[h3]4 – Pinterest.[/h3] Never before has there been such a creative Smörgåsbord of ideas. Just set up an account for free and start following people, and in no time you’ll have wasted or spent (depending on your outlook) hours, day or even weeks absorbing some truly magnificent pieces of art and design. [h3]5 – Get Out[/h3] – Get your arts pants on and get out to the theatre, opera, ballet or cinema – nothing gets the creative arteries pumping that seeing the world of performing arts bods bringing to life the very thing you love. Use that envious or excited energy to create your own next big blockbuster hit
[h3]6- ScrapBook & Albums. [/h3] Dust off your old portfolios, script ideas, unfinished score and dig out that box of photos. Some of your best future ideas might come from things you never quite finished in the past.
[h3]7 – Creative Community. [/h3] Share your temporary brain freeze with your peers. Whether that be fellow students, professionals or your friends and family.
