A theatre practitioner / director is required to lead a programme participatory drama and theatre projects which engages with the social agenda through theatre to effect positive changes within individuals, communities and a broad range of organisations.
The position, is with Borderlines, a Newcastle under Lyme theatre arts company, which runs under the umbrella of the New Vic Theatre and whose work addresses issues of inequality and exclusion, through the creation of a range of innovative projects and programmes.

Borderline delivers work with young people in the criminal justice system, people with learning disabilities, people from Black and Minority ethnic communities and disadvantaged groups. Borderlines works closely with a range of partners such as the Foreign & Commonwealth Office’s Forced Marriage Unit, Keele University, Staffordshire Police and international partners including Warsaw University.

The Practitioner (Director) will work within Borderlines to lead projects and programmes and to work collaboratively with other members. A major responsibility is that of taking on the role of ‘Director of the Young Peoples Theatre Company’.
Other major areas of responsibility includes:
- To devise and direct pieces of theatre with Borderlines participants to a high standard.
- To research, plan and creatively deliver participatory projects with a range of groups
- To develop Young People s Theatre Company
- To deliver work in collaboration with Borderlines’ partners
- To write project outlines and assist with funding bids.
- To monitor and evaluate projects and report and update the Borderlines Department on project delivery
Salary £19,044
