On Saturday June 8 visitors to The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery in Stoke-on-Trent will find that Victorian values will be in abundance as passionate members of the Temperance Society will be on hand to help anyone who’s etiquette has evaporated or has dire deportment to mend their filthy ways.
The Temperance Society were proud campaigners of Victorian decorum and all things proper, bringing a restraint to fun, frivolity and using their frightfully proper stiff upper lip approach to rid society of meagre morals. And now they are back in Staffordshire. But also in town is the local innkeeper who will be doing his bawdy best to bring down the neighbourhood as he pours himself another drink, and it will become very apparent, very quickly, that not everyone has been influenced by the new Victorian values.
But never fear, members of the Society are on hand to help you mend your ways.
