As most pantomimes across the county come to a joyous end, and across Staffordshire as glass slippers are being packed away, beanstalks chopped down and picturesque village squares demolished – The Stafford Gatehouse Theatre is already plotting its next panto for the end of 2014 – and their unique Rock And Roll style of panto production will be returning.
The Stafford theatre has revealed that it’s rock ’n’ roll panto theme will return by popular demand with Cinderella.
The rock n Roll theme is quite unusual for pantomime, and certainly Stafford is only a handful of theatres in the UK which as adopted this style. Their previous pantomime tales which has been given the rock ‘n’ roll treatment include Aladdin, Dick Whittington, Beauty and The Beast and last year Sleeping Beauty
Derrick Gask, Artistic Dircetor at the Gatehouse Theatre has said:
[blockquote]I am thrilled to be bringing rock ‘n’ roll pantomime back again in 2014 This will be the first time we have staged Cinderella as a rock’ n’ roll pantomime and we are so excited about making this our most spectacular show yet.[/blockquote]
“The response we have had over the last three years of returning rock’n’ roll panto has been incredible and our box office data also shows that this year audiences have travelled from further afield than ever before,” Mr Gask said.
Stafford Gatehouse Theatre is certainily building an enviable reputation for staging excellent seasonal shows of the highest quality, and drawing more people each year from further afield. The theatre team will also be in advanced planning for the 24th Stafford Festival Shakespeare Production coming summer 2014 to Stafford Castle (see question 7 of our Staffordshire Arts Big Fat Arts Quiz of The year)
[blockquote]We couldn’t do what we do without the phenomenal support from our loyal audiences from Staffordshire and beyond.[/blockquote]
