A range of Life Sculpture and Drawing classes at Amerton Farm visitor centre near Stafford are running again this summer during May and June 2019.
LIFE DRAWING
Professional models will pose as the class transcribe their contours, volume and form onto paper. The class will focus on different aspects of life drawing at each session.
Drawings are created as quick sketches or longer studies using a range of mediums -eg. pencil; charcoal; pastel.
Classes are suitable for beginners or those with previous experience.
Step-by-step guidance will be given if required, as well as individual attention.
LIFE SCULPTURE
Beginners or experienced modellers are welcome to join the course creating sculpture in clay from life.
No previous knowledge is required as there will be step-by-step guidance and individual tuition.
Skills covered include proportion & anatomy. They also focus on modelling techniques as well as appropriate use of clay.
A professional model will sit whilst members of the class recreate their features in clay.
Poses may be clothed, unclothed or portrait.
ABOUT THE TUTOR
Sculpture courses are taught by Miranda Wakeman, a professional sculptor and qualified teacher.
She trained as a specialist figurative sculptor and holds a BA in art history.
Clients include Haddonstone, English Heritage and private individuals such as Lord Harrowby.

Miranda taught life drawing at Leek college and sculpture at Stafford College for many years, she holds a further education teaching qualification.
As well as the life courses, the centre also runs stone carving and clay sculpture classes,
