Leading ceramics designer and entrepreneur Emma Bridgewater will be joined by Pat Albeck, well known for her work in the textile, pottery and paper industries for a liveley discussion at Keele Hall in October.
This is one of a series of events leading up to the ‘Back to the Drawing Board’ exhibition that will take place from 9th November 2016 – 26th January 2017, Chancellor’s Building, Keele University.
The exhibition celebrates the long and remarkable creative lives of Pat Albeck and Peter Rice. Pat is one of the leading textiles designers in modern Britain, having worked in the textile, pottery and paper industries and for the likes of National Trust. Peter was one of the distinguished stage and costume designers in modern British opera and theatre.
The exhibition will explore a fascinating family dynamic in design as Pat and Peter are the parents of Matthew Rice, husband and business partner of Emma Bridgewater.
Emma Bridgewater recently released a version of a print that was designed by Pat Albeck, which also forms part of the John Lewis anniversary collection. The back stamp on the collection acknowledges Pat’s influence: “Inspired by Daisy Chain by Pat Albeck, who happens to be my mother-in-law.”
This is a free event taking place on 18th October at 7pm in the Salvin Room of Keele Hall with limited tickets available, call Keele Box Office on 01782 734340 or follow this link to book tickets.
