Lidice – A Light Across The Sea is a documentary film produced by Staffordshire based film production company Inspired Film and Video.
The film tells the story of the destruction of the Czech village of Lidice by the Nazis in 1942 and the incredible response of the Lidice Shall Live campaign which was launched in Stoke-on-Trent by the enigmatic Sir Barnett Stross.
Adolf Hitler said that ‘Lidice Shall Die’ but in response Stross proclaimed ‘Lidice Shall Live’ He called on local miners and workers in Stoke on Trent to donate a days pay to help pay to re-build Lidice. In total they raised £32,000, the equivalent to £1 Million GBP to help rebuild the village.
