About the Project
In 2013 The Cultural Sisters, Artist Champions for Staffordshire, invited artists and creative practitoners to share their experiences, thoughts and ideas about quality in Arts and Health by participating in the ‘First Aid Kit’ conversation.
The First Aid Kit is an empty box that artists and practitioners filled with their responses to the questions What does quality mean to you? and What are your priorities when delivering Arts and Health work?
The responses were extremely varied, creative and thought-provoking and during the first phase of this project artists working in the field of Arts and Health created some interesting First Aid Kits.

Since the First Aid Kits were produced other arts champions from the Midlands along with the West Midlands Arts Health & Wellbeing Team, have explored the findings from the initial regional conversations.
From the meeting some Arts & Health Quality statements were established and they will inform the ‘Open Art Surgery’ conversation. These statements are available to download as a power point presentation here.

For the next stage of the Quality Framework The Cultural Sisters have planned an ‘Open Art Surgery’ on Tuesday 21 January 2014, 11.00am-1.30pm at Burslem Park Pavilion Café, Staffordshire, ST6 1EA where the First Aid Kits will be on display for everyone to see and handle.
This event will also offer artists the chance to creatively discuss quality in arts and health, using the Quality Statements as a starting point.
