Now in it’s second year, the Fringe Festival is a month-long festival of FREE* performances, exhibitions, workshops, talks, markets and activities open to everyone in Staffordshire to take part, enjoy and pARTicpate
The Fringe runs from 20th May to 15th June 2013, mainly in and around the Stoke-on-Trent campus of Staffordshire University. The programme ends with a Fantastic Fringe Finale on Saturday June 15th.
Fringe Festival 2013 is co-ordinated by the Fringe team at Staffordshire University led by the Creative Communities Unit in partnership with B Arts Ltd

Ever wanted to be a detective? Try your hand at fingerprinting, document examination, blood pattern analysis and footwear examination.

[h3]25 May | Palace Film Screening[/h3]
Restoke are proud to be premiering the feature film of PALACE produced by Junction15.
PALACE was performed in March 2013 in the magnificent Bethesda Chapel, City Centre, Stoke-on-Trent. Created following interviews with individuals affected by homelessness in Stoke-on-Trent, PALACE was performed by a cast of over 40 dancers and singers, amid stunning visual projections, taking audiences on a transformative journey revealing majesty in the lowliest of circumstances.
The feature film offers new perspectives of the performance unseen by the live audience so whether you missed the live performance or not this is an exciting opportunity to view PALACE on the big screen!
The screening will also offer an opportunity to hear from the directors of Restoke and project partners about the processes involved in creating PALACE, see additional footage from our outreach programme activities, and ask us any burning questions you may have!

Are you a secret singer in the shower? Did you sing in the school choir a long time ago? Do you just love to sing?
This workshop is for you. Open to all abilities you will learn a few simple songs, just for fun.
Everyone is welcome – you don’t need to read music. Just turn up and we’ll raise the roof together! Open to all ages.

[h3]30 May | Play: Be My Baby by Amanda Whittington[/h3]
Set in 1964, Be My Baby follows the fortunes of Mary Adams, aged 19 and seven months pregnant.
Sent to a mother and baby home, Mary and her fellow inmates have to cope with the shame of their pregnancy and the dawning realisation they must give up their babies for adoption. Yet despite the daily battles with a no-nonsense Matron, the girl’s effervescence shines through. As they escape into the girl-groups songs they love, a touching and funny piece of work unfolds, which is not only punctuated with, but defined by the songs of the day.

Band of Gold by Michael Southan
We have our preconceptions of people. When a naïve girl who seems to have everything a seventeen year-old would want meets a local recluse in her job as a waitress, they…talk. Do Rebecca and Sidney have more in common than they think? Does the answer lie in a gold ring?
