14 months in the making, 42 countries, and a cast of thousands, many will be familiar with the on-line video sensation, ‘Where the Hell is Matt?’ . A quirky video featuring Matt’s geeky dance around the world, without a single word spoken, or any specific narrative or context, was somehow touching as much as it was inspirational.
Well ‘Matt’ is back with another video – and although perhaps not so surprising as the first, (well the novelty has passed, hasn’t it?), is still an excellent creative piece of work that builds on the ideas he created in the first video – here.

When I began researching this I hoped I would uncover a fascinating back story. But actually Matt is a regular chap. A game designer by trade. The creation was totally off the cuff and unplanned, and simply grew and grew, and just happened to catch fire just as on-line video and you tube was taking off. I think actually I prefer it that way, and its comforting to learn that any of us can create something that really has a profound affect. We don’t have to already be established artists. We just need to have an idea and see it through.
[blockquote]Matt used to think you were either good at something or bad at something and there wasn’t much you could do to change it. He wishes he’d learned sooner that you can get better at most things just by doing them over and over again. It really is that simple.[/blockquote]
Matt did go on to become ‘semi famous’, and his video style was used by Visa in a worldwide advertising campaign. He has also released a book, “Where the Hell is Matt? Dancing Badly Around the World” about his experiences. Available through Amazon and on Kindle, you can also get a personalised version through Matt’s own site.
