A UK Children’s Fine Art Competition, endorsed by The Department for Education, celebrates the achievements of ordinary people from Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire and the help they gave to rebuild the village of Lidice after it was obliterated by the Nazis in 1942
The annual UK Children’s Fine Art Competition, the largest UK contributor to the International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts (ICEFA) – one of the largest fine art competition and exhibitions for children in the world – is a fantastic opportunity for children and young people aged 4-18 to produce their very best work to celebrate the rebirth of the village of Lidice and is an exciting, highly rewarding and all inclusive international fine art competition.
The annual competition aims to raise the aspirations of children and endow children with the best of values and principles. And while it can be celebrated as an amazing art competition in itself, The UK Children’s Fine Art Competition also provides significant cross-curricular learning opportunities in History, Geography, Citizenship, Religious Studies (as well as Art) in order to achieve the following objectives:
- Increase numbers of young people engaging in art.
- Raise standards in art among young people.
- Inspire young people and raise their aspirations
- Celebrate the achievements of ordinary people in helping to rebuild the village of Lidice
- Raise young people’s awareness of industrial heritage
- Raise awareness and understanding of other cultures and nations
- Encourage friendship and empathy between young people of different nationalities
Many works entered will also go on to be submitted to the International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts, one of the largest free fine art competitions for children in the world!which regularly receives over 25,000 entries from around 70 countries.
It is wholly endorsed by not only the Dept. of Ed in the UK, but a raft of well know figures from the world of fine art, music and filmaking
[blockquote]The terrible events in Lidice and the work of Sir Barnett Stross should certainly be remembered. It is a story of mutual support and international solidarity among ordinary people. I’m sure the art competition will be a great success – it deserves to be. Best wishes to everyone who takes part in the competition. Ken Loach – acclaimed film director[/blockquote]
